Sesame Seeds

Sudan is among the world's largest sesame exporters by volume, and Gedaref State — on the eastern clay plains — produces the light-coloured, high-oil-content sesame that commands premium prices in the Japanese, South Korean, and EU tahini and oil markets. Sudanese white hulled sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) is distinguished from competing origins by its naturally low lignin skin pigmentation, which produces a whiter finished colour after hulling without excessive bleaching — and by its high oil content (50–55% by Soxhlet extraction), which directly drives the economics for tahini, sesame oil, and food additive buyers. The standard commercial specification for export is Purity ≥99.95% (of Sesamum indicum seeds, by weight), moisture ≤5%, FFA ≤1.0% as oleic acid, and oil content ≥50%. We work with processing facilities in Gedaref and Port Sudan that operate optical sortation, gravity tables, and metal detection as standard in their cleaning lines. Hulled white sesame is the dominant export form. Natural unhulled sesame (unprocessed) is available on request — primarily for speciality food, organic, and whole-grain bakery channels.
